Frequently asked questions
How much does a guided deer hunt cost?
+
A 4-day guided mule deer or whitetail rifle hunt is $5,250 plus tax, with additional days at $500 per day and non-hunting ride-alongs at $500. Archery deer is $3,000 plus tax for 5 days, spring turkey is $1,500 plus tax for 3 days, and coyote hunting is $250 plus tax per gun per day.
Where exactly do you hunt, and how do I get there?
+
Approximately 150,000 acres of privately owned land north and south of Wall, South Dakota, along the Cheyenne River drainage. Drive to Wall — 50 miles east of Rapid City on I-90 — then 9 miles north on the Creighton Road. Rapid City Regional Airport has regular airline service, and Wall has a small lighted airport with a 3,500-foot asphalt runway.
What is your success rate?
+
We guarantee an opportunity at a buck that is four points on one side or better, and our success rate runs 95–100% consistently. One of our deer made the Boone & Crockett record book in 2010.
What is included in the price of the hunt?
+
Guiding, lodging at a modern ranch home with beds, linens and towels, all meals including catered evening dinners, and hunting transportation in four-wheel-drive vehicles. Licenses and tags, sales tax, gratuities, travel and taxidermy are not included.
How do I get a South Dakota license?
+
All big game rifle licenses are drawn by lottery, with the first application period opening in April. We send applications to every client with a confirmed booking and recommend applying for the special buck tag for the best odds. Archery tags are sold in unlimited numbers. Current rules and deadlines are at gfp.sd.gov.
How do I book, and what deposit is required?
+
Call 605-685-8604 or email colbyshearer1911@gmail.com. A non-refundable deposit of $1,500 is required once you draw your license, with the balance due October 15 for rifle hunts. Our facilities are limited, so early deposits are strongly recommended.
